All kids love new toys, whether they come on Christmas, birthdays, or other special occasions. They can get pretty expensive, though, especially as children grow up. Taking advantage of toy sales can save you significant money on these types of purchases. They happen more often than you might realize, too. You don’t know about them, likely, unless you shop a lot.
The best way to find out about toy sales is to subscribe to your local newspaper. Whether you subscribe to the daily paper or just the Sunday edition, the Sunday edition is the one that will have the most ads for toy sales. The Thanksgiving edition, too, will tell you all the great sales that come up on Black Friday, traditionally the biggest shopping day of the year.
Another easy way to learn about toy sales is by subscribing to your favorite online store’s newsletter or mailing list. You will be the first to know about upcoming sales and special offers. Many retailers even offer special discounts and promotions to their subscribers that the general public, don’t have access to. Subscribing is easy and free, just be sure they don’t sell your e-mail address. You can usually find a disclosure when you opt in to let you know that your e-mail is safe to share with them.
Facebook is another way online retailers and companies are taking their business to a new level. Pages are created specifically for companies; if you’re a Facebook member, just go to their page and bookmark it; you can also indicate that you “like” it. You’ll receive updates as they post. Although these pages used to be called fan pages, now they’re simply Facebook pages like any others. This should give you advance notice of toy sales that may be happening at favorite stores, and you’ll probably also get special offers on occasion.
Another thing you can do is to call local retailers to find out about toy sales. Retailers will gladly tell you about any special offers, or any sales they’re having. They may not be able to tell you everything, but you can ask about specific items, so that they can tell you whether or not they’re on sale. If they refuse, you can always ask to speak with the manager.
Toy sales do exist and they occur more often than you’d think. Companies know how much children are into toys and they try to make it as easy as possible for parents to be able to buy their products. Companies also need to have toy sales in order to make room for upcoming shipments. It’s up to you to take advantage of any special offers you can find. They’re out there waiting for you.
